Legendary Resistance Alternatives
Legendary Resistances are one of D&D’s “necessary evils”… But they might not be as necessary as you thought, considering the fact I haven’t used a single one in over two years now.
If that sounds good to you, come check out this free supplement!
Better Zombies
As discussed in the 2nd episode of Game Changer, D&D’s zombies pale in comparison to the ones we see in movies and video games. This is a small, 8 page campaign toolkit which will give you everything you need to run a fun zombie apocalypse campaign in 5e: weird mutations, zombies that can evolve into special types, rules for building barricades, and more.
Mass Combat Simplified
There are comprehensive, 300-page books of rules for running mass combat out there… But personally, I only run this type of scenario once or twice per campaign, and couldn’t be bothered to learn so many rules for something I don’t do every week.
So, instead, I have made swarm-type stat blocks for typical types of battalions: infantry, cavalry, artillery, etc…
Unearthed Arcane
Being both emotionally complex and aesthetically grokkable, the main cast of Netflix and League of Legends’ hit show makes for great inspiration for D&D BBEGs.
So, I turned all of them into stat blocks that you can rename and then use in your own campaign.
Note that these stat blocks do not attempt to reproduce the mechanics from the video game, but rather, to be good/usable stat blocks in and of themselves.
The Spell Weaver
This is a 5e conversion of a monster from 3rd and 2nd Edition – an alien being from an ancient species who brought the ire of the gods upon themselves by flying too close to the sun.
The original version of this monster was only CR 10, but, well… Casting 6 spells per turn, even just 6 cantrips, easily puts you in the offensive CR 18-22 range in 5e, so I just rolled with it and made it a CR 18 BBEG-class monster!
These monsters are released under D&D’s Fan Content Policy.
Unearthed Arcane is released coinjointly under D&D’s Fan Content Policy & League of Legends’s Legal Jibber Jabber.
