This week, Ranger players rejoice! A subclass whose main feature isn’t “use a bonus action to add 1d4 damage once per turn”!
Become your party’s tactician. Trappers fight terrifying monsters, far larger and far more powerful than themselves, with their own cunning as their one and only advantage. They even the odds by making the most out of any situation, by preparing ambushes and traps, and controlling the battlefield.
Streamlined traps. Traps in 5e are made highly impractical on purpose, out of the fear that they will take too much table time. They’re more DM tools than player tools. This subclass’ goal is to streamline their usage to make them usable by the players. But your Trapper will be someone who is acutely aware that “best prepared” does not necessarily mean “most prepared”, on the account that over-preparedness costs them spell slots they might need later.
A fully-integrated subclass. In this pdf, you will find all you need to make an interesting character and tell compelling stories using this subclass:
- Two new spells, Displacement Rune and Unstable Mirage, which will make creative players extremely happy
- An optional rule to make trap items more usable at higher tiers of play
- Examples of quirks and goals to make your character stand out
